The Welcome Mat is a beautiful piece of community artwork created to send a message of solidarity, welcome and love to those who have come to the UK and counter hatred and anti-migration rhetoric. The Welcome Mat was created by over 250 people from across the world, and this initiative is being recognised nationally with the Welcome Mat travelling across the UK!
Migrant Action is partnering with Launchpad Collective to follow the welcome mat around the UK, travelling to locations which were largely affected by xenophobic violence over the summer and co creating a safe space for listening, learning, creativity, leadership development and healing.
We hope to use creativity to facilitate a community coming-together to establish and build sustainable community led strategies for harmony and resilience
We hope that these local communities can create their own version of welcome mats and work towards healing and harmony together!
