Community Project to counter violence, hate, and fear; and cultivate healing, safety and welcome
What happens after crisis-management response, and we return to ‘normality’? What happens to our souls, minds and bodies? In what state have left our community relationships and where does emotional processing take place? How can we make space for longer-term and collective learning,
healing and community peace and justice? How do we uproot fear and hate so that we can cultivate and nourish love and Hope?
As Migrant Action grappled with these existential questions after the racist and anti-migration last summer, we embarked on a reflective learning journey. With the support of our amazing partners (local, regional and national), Migrant Action are delighted to be co-creating a new Healing and Community Justice Together project.
The goal of the project’s activities is to access the ‘oases’ of kindness, love, compassion, joy, diversity, creativity and passion within our communities as we work together in solidarity to uproot fear and hate whilst cultivating hope and durable peace. In such an environment, we collectively build resilience and preservation for all in communities we feel a deep sense of healing and belonging.
Project activities will include but not limited to the co-creation of safe spaces for conversations, deep listening, inter-cultural learning exchange, creative arts, leadership development, etc. According to one of our project partners:
‘This collaboration brings people together in a creative space for community reflection using creative tools including but not limited to simple drawing and reflection prompts for communities and leaders to come together to understand what is needed to build sustainable community-led strategies’ for harmonious communities and community resilience.’
Migrant Action is hugely grateful for the partnership with The Launchpad Collective
(charity) for inspiring this project through ‘The Welcome Mat’ initiative.
